Quarantine Workouts

On New Years Eve 2019, did I think that four months later, I was going to find myself working out with no weights, on a yoga mat, in my bedroom, every morning, for the foreseeable future? Nope, but here we are, so let’s make the best of it.

When quarantine started a few weeks ago in Los Angeles and my gym closed, I struggled to find a new routine that I could stick to every day. I figured pretty quickly that this “Shelter At Home” order was going to continue for several months so I started digging around YouTube to find new workouts that I could do every day, using only my body weight and a chair. A few weeks later, I’ve figured out my routine and I’ve stuck to this workout for the last 10+ days and I’ll continue to moving forward.

Here is the workout routine I’ve been following ->

  1. 4 minute plank

  2. 7 minute full body workout -> https://youtu.be/mmq5zZfmIws

  3. 4 minute plank

  4. 7 minute full body workout

  5. 4 minute plank

  6. 7 minute full body workout

  7. 7 minute ab workout -> https://youtu.be/DHD1-2P94DI

Now I need to point out, this is a pretty tough core workout so if you can’t complete one of the workouts, no big deal, just do whatever you can do and keep building up over time. The 4 minute planks alone take time for most people to build up to, so do whatever you’re capable of doing and then keep building up to the 4 minute plank. I give myself about a minute break in-between each workout.

Also, I’m not a personal trainer, nor do I want to be, so don’t judge my workout if you are. I’m just a dude who enjoys a good sweat and lookin’ like a snack (in my eyes) when I look in the bathroom mirror. If you need a good personal trainer, contact my buddy Cody.

If you’re looking to add more to this workout or try other workouts, you could try…

  1. Cody Taggart’s Workout - Cody is one of my best friends and a fantastic personal trainer. He posted a quarantine workout on his IG and also does IG LIVE workouts with Kalen Allen for you all to follow along with.

  2. Sarah Coffin’s Workout - Sarah is one of my favorite people and her workout routine can be done basically anywhere and really kicks your ass. She not only has an awesome workout video to follow but also has incredible recipes you can cook from home if you follow her food account, Brunch Girls.

  3. Basecamp Fitness’s IG LIVE Workouts - Basecamp has great workouts on their LIVE IG story to follow along with. Check their Instagram for workout times.

  4. Get Fit With AK - Normally $40, Anna Katharina’s workout routine/diet plan/grocery list/recipe and more is discounted to $20 and is all you could ever need to get fit during quarantine!

  5. Nike Training Club - Normally $14.99 a month, Nike is waiving this fee for the next few months so, download the app, which gives you 185 workouts, from 15 to 45 minutes for free.

  6. Core Power Yoga - I love me some CPY. They’re posting online yoga videos and meditation sessions each week while their locations are all closed.

  7. Rumble - Big fan of boxing workouts? Check out Rumble’s free boxing style workout classes on IG each morning. They’re usually at 8am ET.

  8. Barry’s Bootcamp - Barry’s Bootcamp workouts are super well known in Los Angeles and they’re posting three workouts a day on their IG story for you to follow along with. Definitely make sure to try out a class when their studio is back open too!

  9. Peloton - Known for their commercials where people bike in the most random locations of all time, their app also has great workout videos, without needing one of their bikes. They recently extended their free trial period for their app to 90 days (usually $12.99).

If you have any questions for me, feel free to ask, as always, and continue to stay safe, healthy and fit throughout this period of craziness.
